India has been elected to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the 2026-28 term. External affairs minister Dr S Jaishankar expressed India’s dedication to promoting development issues. Along with India, several other nations, including Australia, China, and Norway, were also elected to the council, which is responsible for coordinating the UN’s work on various global issues.
